Shingles Natural Remedies & the Vaccine – Devil in the Details

If you are a follower of the vaccine debate, you know that the environment is heating up.  More and more Americans and just humankind in general are voicing their concerns over vaccines.  As this occurs, mountains of information are being revealed.  The Freedom of Information Act has allowed the average person to request information that would normally be hidden from the public eye.  Other information is in plain view if you know how to search for it.

Today I would like to discuss shingles and the vaccine.  In the fall of 1993, I came down with my first case of shingles.  My doctor tried to tell me that it was a spider bite because I was too young (27) to get shingles,  but when it lasted for over a week and got worse I had another doctor look at it.  He told me that he thought it was, in fact shingles.  I had a silver dollar size patch in line with my adrenals that were angry looking red blister-like sores that hurt and spread pain over my ribs.  This eventually scabbed over and become itchy.  I would get this same condition over and over each year around November / December when the stress in my life was high.  When I was pregnant with my first child I got shingles toward the end of my pregnancy and was given an antiviral (Zovirax) which caused my son to stop moving in the womb and his heart rate dropped.  My doctor’s partner whom I saw that week, said there was nothing to worry about but my mama intuition told me that I should be concerned.  So I made an appointment with my chiropractor and had a talk with him about natural alternatives.  I would follow these natural alternatives from that point on each time I had an outbreak.  When I stopped the medication and began taking supplements, my son’s heart rate increased and he began to move around again.  I felt vindicated.  My OB however, was not impressed.  When I shared that I had seen his partner and was told it was nothing to worry about, sought the advice of my chiropractor, given an alternative and my son had returned to normal he gave me a speech about how the drug was safe and effective and natural does not equate to safe.  Hemlock is natural.  I terminated that conversation.  How do you argue with that ridiculous analogy?

I was asked today what the natural alternatives to the shingles medication are.  This is what I do.

  1. Chiropractic – this is the most important component in my opinion.  Having regular chiropractic care and then increasing it during the time of an outbreak is important.  Because the virus sits in the nerves it is beneficial to ensure that there are no subluxations that will cause the nerves to be pinched which lowers the immune system.
  2. L-Lysine – This amino acid works to prohibit the replication of the Herpes Zoster virus.  Doses of 1,000 – 1,500 mgs 3x per day have proven to be effective. For prevention 1,000 mgs / day is recommended.
  3. Vitamin C High doses of vitamin C from the moment you suspect an outbreak.
  4. Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) in doses of 5,000 iU per day can assist in pain reduction.
  5. DHA (Fish Oils) – Can help to heal the nerve damage.
  6. Zinc – Supplementing with 50 mgs per day can help to boost the immune system.

Now, I would like to talk to those of you who have faith in God.  I am so frustrated with my Christian family.  They plug their ears when I mention vaccines and write me off as some tin foil hatted health nut fanatic.  Maybe I am, but it is because I have seen what is behind the curtain and folks – it’s trying to kill us.  I’ll do a separate vaccine blog soon, but for now I’m sticking to shingles.

It has been suggested to me by those who don’t know me well, that I should get the shingles vaccine.  Sadly, this would only make my situation worse.  The ingredients in this vaccine are toxic.  To top it off, there are components that originate from an aborted baby. I am pro-life.  I cannot inject a child who was murdered into my body.  But my believer friends will tell me.  There aren’t any cells in the vaccines.  True….. but there are DNA fragments.  Fragments that are mutinegenic.  Each time these cells are used to create further vaccines the DNA becomes more fragmented allowing it to do more damage.  These cell lines collected in 1964 are nearing the end of their usefulness and scientists have just obtained new tissue from a “water birth” from a 3 month gestation baby girl that will be used for future vaccines.

Don’t believe me?  Let’s take a look at the ingredient list from the CDC.  Take a peek above the Shingles vaccine to see what is going into your children for chicken pox.  You remember – that illness that just made you itch and kept you out of school for a few days but didn’t kill you?

“Residual components of MRC-5 cells including DNA and protein.”

What is the MRC-5 cell you ask?

So why would I, as a believer, inject into my body, a substance that has resulted from the murder of a Gift from God that was supposed to have a life?  I wouldn’t and can’t.  Because actions have consequences.  You can’t be pro-life and pro-vaccine.  It makes you a hypocrite.  Strong language I know.  If they used aborted babies in makeup would you promote that?  No , you would rally against the company that did it and people did.  How is this not the same – and worse?  This is a dangerous game we are playing as believers.  God expects more.  He tells us to protect human life not celebrate the murder of children by championing the wonders of vaccines while avoiding the elephant in the room.  A child was murdered and it was used to make the vaccine.  Without it we are told by scientists, you cannot make the vaccine.  It’s sickening and it needs to stop and it starts in the House of God. Media has brought this to our attention and you can no longer claim ignorance.  If you choose to not look into it fearing what you may find then shame on  you.   Knowledge does command action and that’s why I am writing this today.

I weep at the number of families who’s lives have been destroyed by vaccine injuries.  They have been labeled as liars and alarmists and every other thing in the book.  Doctors have dismissed their concerns and in some cases bullied them.  They have been fired from their Pediatricians for refusing to vaccinate or selectively vaccinating.  Why is there this power struggle?  Because it is money – big money and the bible warns us about this.   Because we have allowed big Pharma to continue with their money making schemes at the expense of our families safety we have brought upon ourselves many sorrows.

1 Timothy 6:10  (KJV)
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

We have the power to stop this.  It’s easy.  Stop playing in the same sandbox, get educated and stand with others who have done their homework.  Now is the time.  Because the next victim could be you.

For further information on the fetal tissue being used,  you can review the following resources.  An increase in autism rates began to climb when this human DNA was introduced into the vaccines.  Coincidence?

Here Comes the “Pinktober” Celebration

bra2

We are just two weeks away from the “Pinktober” event.  For the entire month of October we will be bombarded with pink trinkets and reminders to become aware of breast cancer.  Who isn’t aware of it?  It has claimed a life from most of us – be it family or a friend.  The fact of the matter is that the Susan B Komen program is a scam.  The money they use from what they raise is minuscule and doesn’t fund any meaningful research to stop breast cancer.  Breast cancer is a huge money making industry.  I doubt they want to find a cure.

I won’t bother to go into details about all the issues with this organization but will link the the Truth About Cancer’s post.

The biggest thing that is promoted this time of year is the Mammogram.  However, this method of screening is not effective nor is it safe for determining the risk of breast cancer.  In the NEJM we find a research article that discusses the risk of false positives.

Ten-Year Risk of False Positive Screening Mammograms and Clinical Breast Examinations

If a woman undergoes annual screening beginning at the age of 40, she will have had 60 opportunities for a false positive result by the age of 70, with 30 mammograms and 30 clinical breast examinations. The cumulative lifetime risk of her having a result from a screening test that requires further workup, even though no breast cancer is present, is not known. An estimate of 25 percent has been given for the cumulative risk of a false positive result after 10 mammograms and 10 clinical breast examinations. It is important to determine the cumulative risk of false positive tests, because women are advised to have breast-cancer screening every one to two years over several decades of their lifetimes, and false positive results can provoke anxiety, increase costs, and cause morbidity.

The American Cancer Society has now modified the screening requirements to begin at age 45 with annual checks until 54 at which point it is recommended biennially.

So what are your options if you don’t wish to be smashed and radiated?  There is another test that has been used safely and effectively in Europe and can detect a high risk of cancer up to 10 years prior to it being detected by a mammogram.  This test is called Thermography and measures the vascular changes within the breast.

What else can you do to keep your breasts healthy?

Iodine – If you have been following me for a while you know that I am a strong proponent of supplementing.  It is not just beneficial for the thyroid gland but also the breast.  The breasts are the 2nd largest storage site of iodine in the body.  A deficiency in iodine puts the woman at a higher risk for fibrocystic breast disease [1] as well as breast cancer. [2]

Iodine works as an antioxidant in the breast.[3]  Lipid oxidation can be a contributor to breast disease.  Without adequate levels, the breasts are also subject to excess estrogenic stimulation.  In studies performed on the breast, when iodine deficiency is induced, a fibrocystic condition can be obtained.

Sebatiano Venturi reports on the importance of iodine in the ducts of the breast in his “Is there a role for Iodine in Breast Disease?”

It is hypothesized that dietary iodine deficiency is associated with the development of mammary pathology and cancer. A review of the literature on this correlation and of the author’s own work on the antioxidant function of iodide in iodide-concentrating extrathyroidal cells is reported. Mammary gland is embryogenetically derived from primitive iodide-concentrating ectoderm, and alveolar and ductular cells of the breast specialize in uptake and secretion of iodine in milk in order to supply offsprings with this important trace-element. Breast and thyroid share an important iodide-concentrating ability and an efficient peroxidase activity, which transfers electrons from iodide to the oxygen of hydrogen peroxide, forming iodoproteins and iodolipids, and so protects the cells from peroxidative damage. The mammary gland has only a temporary ability to concentrate iodides, almost exclusively during pregnancy and lactation, which are considered protective conditions against breast cancer.

If you are breast feeding your need for iodine increases.  Within the breast tissue exists two “iodine pumps” that pull iodine into the cells.  One of the vehicles of transportation is the  NIS or Sodium Iodine Symporter and is how iodine is pulled into the cells.  The other method of transporting iodine into the breast is through Pendrin.  The baby requires iodine for proper neurological and endocrine development and will take what it needs leaving the mother depleted.   How much is enough?  The iodine doctors based their recommendation of 12.5 mgs / day on the Japanese women who experience less breast issues and lower rates of thyroid disease.  This amount is also the amount where the least amount of detoxing may occur from toxic halides that can be passed through to the baby via the breast milk.  There is a protocol that should be followed when supplementing.  The specifics can be found in The Guide to Supplementing.  I wrote this guide to assist those new to supplementing with the basics.  It can be downloaded for free here.  I also run a Facebook support group where additional questions can be asked.  Many women there have experienced the amazing benefits in obtaining optimum breast health through supplementing with iodine.

Kelp Is Not a Good Way to Get Iodine

kelp powder

After constantly being asked about kelp and other sea vegetables in the context of iodine supplementation, I decided that it was time to address the elephant in the room.  The constant push to take Kelp and other Sea Vegetables to supply iodine in the diet has been concerning to me.  While sea vegetables may offer iodine and other nutrients, they also risk a high exposure to toxins.

Natural News Labs published this article on the testing they performed that showed high levels of cadmium, arsenic, lead, mercury and copper.

A UC Davis study finds high arsenic levels in kelp supplements.

A recently published study of herbal kelp products by UC Davis public health expert Marc Schenker concludes that some kelp supplements may cause inadvertent arsenic poisoning and health dangers for consumers, especially when overused. Schenker and two researchers evaluated nine typical herbal kelp products and found higher than acceptable arsenic levels in eight of them.

Dr Alexander Haskell states in one of his youtube videos on iodine that he attempted to obtain a 3 mg capsule of kelp from Gaia Herbs to use in his practice.  After much investigation, Gaia returned to him and stated that attempting to put this amount of kelp in a capsule would put them over the legally allowed limit for arsenic.

Our seas are becoming so polluted with chemicals, heavy metals and pesticides.  The organization Sea Web offers some troubling information about what we are facing with anything that comes from the sea – be it sea veggies or seafood products.

From an old blog from Dr Brownstein in 2007 that is no longer online:

Caution With Kelp Supplements

My research has shown that after testing over 4,000 patients for their Iodine levels, over 96% of those tested are significantly low in iodine. Many patients ask me if they can take kelp instead of iodine. The amount of iodine in kelp can be variable. Furthermore, I was always concerned that kelp supplements may contain toxic amounts of arsenic or halides. I have tested 2 kelp supplements and found very elevated arsenic levels in both items. Both of these products were marketed heavily and sales in the millions of dollars were reported. When I contacted he manufactures of these products, neither returned my phone calls. Remember, if kelp is grown in a polluted area of the ocean, it may contain elevated amounts of these pollutants. New research has validated my findings.

Researchers at the University of California/Davis found that eight out of nine kelp supplements contained abnormal levels of arsenic (Env. Health Perspectives, April, 2007). The researchers began to look at kelp supplements after a patient presented to the UC Davis clinic with a myriad of complaints including memory loss, hair loss and fatigue. She was found to have very high arsenic levels which was traced to a kelp supplement she was taking. After stopping the kelp supplement, her arsenic levels gradually declined and her symptoms improved.

So, what can you do? IF you are low in iodine, take a pure iodine product that is not contaminated. Lugol’s solution or tableted Lugol’s solution (Iodoral®) have both proven safe and effective in my practice. Kelp can be an appropriate iodine source if the kelp has been tested and found free of toxic elements. I would be very cautious about taking a kelp supplement unless the manufacture is consistently testing the kelp for purity and consistency.

Another research article on the Safe Use of Kelp Supplements shares that arsenic is indeed found in these supplements.  While they are not totally negative on the issue it does reinforce that arsenic is an issue.

Fukushima continues to be an issue especially for those on the west coast.   The nuclear reactors continue to leak toxic radioactive materials and have been since 2011.  Even in March of 2016 we see news reports of its toxic waste dump into the ocean.

While health food enthusiasts continue to support the use of kelp for iodine let’s put this into perspective – toxins aside.  Sea vegetables on average have 500% of the RDI of iodine for a daily diet.  That may sound like alot, but the RDI is 0.150 mcg of iodine.  500% of that would be 0.750 mcg of iodine.  This is far from a high amount when considering that the iodine doctors (Dr Abraham, Brownstein and Flechas) have been using amounts from 12.5 mgs up to 300 mgs (for cancer patients) in their practice for years as a daily supplementing dosage.  The average member of my Facebook Iodine group is reporting daily supplementing of 50-150 mgs + per day.  You would have to eat a lot of sea veggies to match this level.

Final Thoughts:  If you are determined to consume these products, then I would suggest that you do a few things.  Contact the manufacturer and ask them what testing is done.  Ask them to see the reports outlining the levels of halides and other nutrients.  Also ask them if they test for radiation exposure.  If they cannot provide these things then I would pass on purchasing and consuming their products.

If you are looking to supplement with iodine the best way to do this is through an Iodine supplement like the ones I offer in my store.    Make sure your supplement is Lugol’s formula for both iodine and iodide because the body needs both forms.  (See my previous blogs on iodine for more information on supplementing).
